Looking out the window, an Amazon truck whizzes by. Ever wonder how all those packages got into the truck? It is almost unfathomable to imagine such a process considering the global volume of shipments that are made; and we complain that it takes a couple of days to get our purchases.
At the distribution centers there are miles of conveyors moving packages in every which way. Those purchases are finding their way to that correct location, where the truck waits to be loaded. A main component of those conveyors are stainless steel spindles that drive the belts smoothly and without vibration, so as not to disturb the precious contents.
Hinz has been charged with the production of these high tolerance spindles made of stainless steel. This is no easy part to make, and complicating it even further is the shear amount of parts required monthly. Within a very short time the parts went from prototype, to PPAP, to high volumes of two different spindles, a Drive and an Idler, precision machined, cleaned, and packaged; shipped on time and meeting rigorous quality demands.
While it is hard for us to imagine how that package makes its way to our front door, we know that the truck racing on to its destination was carefully loaded using spindles machined here in Franklin at Hinz.
